Cleaning your make up brushes. Cómo limpiar tus brochas de maquillaje

A good set of make up brushes really helps if you want to achieve a beautiful make up, they are a necessary tool, and also expensive.You want to keep them in good form for a long time, and so some cares are needed.

You can find a brush cleaner in most of the cosmetics brands now, at a department store or beauty shop. These products typically come in a spray bottle, from which you spray a midst on your brushes and then wipe it back and forth briskly on a tissue. They are very beneficial for a quick clean and especially if you do make up professionally you will need them on the go. 
However it is recommended to give your brushes a deeper clean.

The brushes that you usually use need to be clean often, at least once a week. However if you use them to apply moist (wet) products, like foundation, cream eye shadows or eye liners, then a daily cleaning is recommended. A neutral gentle shampoo (baby shampoo is perfect) is what you need, and loads of lukewarm water. 
If you are out of shampoo, try a handy facial cleanser to wash your makeup brushes. If it can take away the makeup on your face, then chances are it will be very helpful in removing the makeup from the brushes.

Apply some shampoo on the palm of your hand and wet the brush on it with a circle motion, rinse the brush under the tap, always with the hair pointing down. In this way the brush will keep its shape and you will avoid any water coming into the metal part of the brush.(so that the glue inside that keeps the hair in its place does not get wet and ruined). Repeat it as many times as needed until the water comes clear and the brush is completely clean. Repeat this procedure with every brush you need to clean.

For synthetic hair brushes (they are the standard ones for foundation application and concealer) you can do a previous step that consists in wet them in olive oil. The olive oil removes dirt and also helps to keep the hair nourish. Just make sure that you wash them with the baby shampoo afterwards and they are also well rinse. You do not want any oil residues on them.

Once your brushes are free of any dirt or shampoo, let them naturally dry in an horizontal position. It is better to avoid that the hair touches any surface, so you can put them at the edge of a surface with the hair without any support, or you can use those special plastic folders that will also keep them in shape .

Regarding the brushes for powder eye shadows, the ones with a small sponge, I would recommend you to use eye make up remover. Soak them on the product, rub them carefully, rinse them with water and let them dry.

Una buena colección de brochas de maquillaje es indispensable si quieres conseguir unl acabado perfecto en tu maquillaje . Las brochas de buena calidad suelen ser caras, así que necesitamos que nos duren en perfecto estado el máximo tiempo posible. Para que esto sea así, tenemos que dedicarles algunos cuidados.

Puedes encontrar un limpiador de brochas en grandes almacenes o tiendas de belleza, de distintas marcas que hay ahora en el mercado. Estos productos suelen venir en spray, y se aplican directamente sobre el pelo de la brocha, y luego ésta se frota enérgicamente en movimientos circulares usando un papel de cocina. Este tipo de productos son perfectos para usar entre lavados, como mantenimiento. 
Sin embargo es aconsejable limpiar las brochas con profundidad regularmente.

Las brochas que uses habitualmente necesitan una limpieza profunda al menos una vez por semana. Sin embargo, si las usas para aplicar productos húmedos, como base de maquillaje, sombras de ojos en crema o eye liners, entonces es aconsejable limpiarlas a diario.

Un jabón neutro (champú para bebés es perfecto) es lo que necesitas, y mucha agua templada.
Si no tienes champú suave, puedes usar tu limpiador para la cara. Si te quita el maquillaje, hay muchas posibilidades de que acabe con el maquillaje de las brochas también!

Pon un poco de champú en la palma de tu mano, y moja la brocha que quieras limpiar en el champú, con movimientos circulares. Después aclara bajo el grifo, siempre con cuidado de que el agua no penetre en la parte metálica. Coloca el pelo hacia abajo, y que el agua no cubra esta parte metálica, o el pegamento que mantiene juntos los pelitos acabaría estropeándose y la brocha se nos quedaría calva. Repítelo tantas veces como sea necesario hasta que el agua salga clara y la brocha esté completamente limpia.
Repite esto con cada brocha que quieras limpiar.

Para las brochas de pelo sintético (para aplicar base de maquillaje, corrector, o sombras en crema), puedes utilizar un truquito previo, que a mí me va muy bien. El aceite de oliva elimina la suciedad del pelo y lo nutre al mismo tiempo. Asegúrate de que no quedan restos de aceite limpiándola después con el champú y aclarándola muy bien. No queremos que las brochas queden aceitosas.

Una vez tengas las brochas bien enjuagadas, déjalas secar en posición horizontal. Intenta evitar que el pelo toque la superficie (para que no queden deformes), puedes ponerlas en el borde de una superficie, con el pelo fuera de ella. O puedes usar también las fundas de plástico que venden para secar las brochas hacia abajo.

En cuanto a las brochitas que tienen al final como esponja, éstas que se usan para aplicar sombras en polvo, te recomiendo que uses desmaquillador de ojos para limpiarlas. Mójalas en el líquido desmaquillador, frótalas con tus dedos con cuidado, enjuaga bien con agua templada y déjalas secar.
